The Agribusiness program of Buwami Uganda Ltd is aimed at fostering sustainable agricultural practices among communities leading to food security and reduction in income poverty among farmers in Lango sub region.

Agribusiness program focuses on Both Food and cash crop value chains.

  • Under the Agribusiness program, Buwami Uganda Ltd created OLEC farmers Group which now comprises of 10,000 farmers. 
  • Buwami Uganda Ltd is implementing 10:1 acre project: The project we are running here is " Ten to one acre climate smart Youth maize project. The story is for every ten acres one acre is dedicated for youth who are participating in the project. 
  • Buwami Uganda Ltd is building a warehouse in Otuke Industrial Area for bulking produce as we source for a competitive market.

NUTRITIOUS BAKING

The Nutritious Baking Program is meant to improve Vitamin A consumption demanded products. Nutritious Baking program aims to produce sweet potato-based bakery products.

Lango subregion comprises of over 50,000 farmers of Orange Fleshed Sweet Potatoes and other varieties that is good substitute for wheat in Baking

GREEN ENERGY

Uganda has an ambitious plan of achieving 100% renewable energy by 2050. SEED MANAGEMENT

Conflict with the Lord’s Resistance Army in the Northern region of Uganda was stabilized in 2008, the LRA war caused social and economic distress to the region. Since the population was depending on food relief, smallholder farmers lost most of their indigenous seeds and farmer seed systems were as well destroyed.

Buwami Uganda Ltd is working with National Agricultural research institutions to avail better seed varieties for Maize, Cassava, sweet potatoes and coffee to the farming communities in Lango.
